Welcome to The Wealthy You!
First of all, if you are reading this, thank you for being here. My name is William and I will do my best to guide you through your journey to wealth and financial freedom.
A bit about me: I graduated university with a degree in finance in 2016 and have since completed the CFA designation. My day job is in corporate finance, but my passion has always been for personal finance. I grew up reading a ton and dreaming of one day becoming an author, which I suppose brings me here.
My wife and I bought our first house 2 years ago and are now expecting our first baby in 2021! On top of planning for life with a new addition to our family, we are currently working on three separate financial goals: paying off our remaining student loans, paying off our mortgage, and saving for long-term financial independence. Needless to say that with all of these simultaneous financial goals and requirements it has been very useful to have a disciplined approach to our finances. I would add that in our experience it has been very helpful to have both partners sharing similar financial priorities.
So why did I create TWY? Besides my passion for personal finance and dreams of one day being an author, I created TWY for three main reasons:
- As a creative outlet and a space to write down my thoughts. I spend a lot of time reading and thinking about personal finance and I’ve often wished I had a place to keep all those thoughts. This is finally it!
- As a way to help others. I have always had a desire to help others when it comes to personal finance as I think many members of our society are in dire need of financial guidance. Financial decisions can have an immense impact on our lives yet the education system teaches us nothing about personal finance. I’ve spent time searching for an opportunity to volunteer in an area that would let me share this knowledge but never managed to find the right opportunity, so I am creating my own! I’m hoping in time I can leverage the work I will have put into this website into further opportunities to provide financial education.
- As a way to connect. I hope to find like-minded people through my blog and bring all of our knowledge and experiences together.
